Dear Prof. Haeckel,

Thank you so much for your printed note. I am extremely grieved to find that your accident was more serious than I had anticipated. It is most hopeful however, to know || that you are now getting well in a satisfactory manner, although slowly.

The disappointment that you must feel on account of your delayed literary work must be keen but all your friends and admirers will only regard it as a prospective pleasure to be deferred only by a fact that will increase appreciation and elicit the || greatest sympathy.

With every wish for an ultimate happy recovery

I remain

Yours very hopefully

Milly Alder.
