My Dear Haeckel
I was very sorry indeed to learn that both you and Mrs Haeckel have been ill. I hope that the Siphonophora has had nothing to do with it. I hope to hear that you are now both recovered || and in your usual healths. I was glad to get some of your M. S. and to hear that the plates are so well on. As there will be no money available after the 31 of this month for payments of drawings or honorarium, I will ask the Treasury || to pay you £105 for this Report and I hope that will refer you.
What must I pay your assistant for the list of the Radiolaria? I would like to know this. If he can do some more lists at a reasonable rate I think I could employ him to do so. Kindly let me know about this as soon as || convenient, within a week. I hope I may visit you this spring.
With kind remembrances to all the family
Yours sincerely
John Murray
I wish your assistants full name.
