John Murray (Challenger Office) an Ernst Haeckel, Edinburgh, 27. Oktober 1884
Challenger Expedition Office,
32 Queen Street, Edinburgh,
27 October 1884.
My Dear Haeckel
I return you four press plates 4. 10. 111. & 122. belonging to the eleventh series. Am I right in thinking that plates 4. 10. 111. 122. 116. 9. 50. 2. 120 and 121. make up the eleventh series? If so, I do not appear to have passed the last two for press. ||
A box was received in March last containing nine plates, which are all right. The stones of the seventh series can be rubbed off as the plates are all right. As soon as the box with the eight series comes to hand I will have them counted, and send word if the plates can || be rubbed off the stones. I will send on Giltschs’ accounts as soon as I hear that the numbers of the eleventh series are as I have stated on the other page.
I am glad to hear that you are so well and are getting on with the second part. I think the printing will now go on all right, and faster than hitherto. I am || very busy with the narrative volumes which I hope will be out before the end of the year
Yours ever,
John Murray
