My dear Haeckel,
This is to introduce to you my assistant Mr. A. G. Bournewine, who is an ardent naturalist and has been with me for three years or more. He has published some interesting researches on the neural organ of the || Leech and is still working at the anatomy of the Hirudinea. He comes to Jena to stay for six weeks in order to learn German and to get some inspiration by even so short a stay at the „pulsierenden Herz” of German Biological science. I hope he may be fortunate enough to find you and to hear a few words || of friendly encouragement from you.
The freshwatera medusa appeared again this summer but always only males. I can not make out when & where the eggs are produced.
With sincerest greeting
Ever yours truly
E. Ray Lankester
