My Dear Haeckel
This is to wish you and all your family all the best wishes for this new year. I hope you are keeping in good health although I have heard through Rottenberg that you have been in the || past year rather handicapped by an accident that prevented you moving about as easily as you could have wished. However, I hope you have many more new years in store.
I am busy with a book on the deep-sea with Hjort giving the results of the || „Michael Sars” Expedition of last year. I have lately been going over again your charming „Plankton Studies”, while working at our pelagic catches. I am putting in a photo of yourself and indicating the general effect of your writings on the development of the Science of Oceanography. The book should be || published in about 3 months.
I am still hoping to be able to afford a ship of my own some day and to make another tour of the world although I am now seventy one years!!
Yours very sincerely
John Murray
All my family are very well and join in good wishes J.M.
