Heidelberg | Rosenbergweg 11.
Feb. 25th 1913.
Dear Professor Haeckel,
I am venturing to write to you since I know you knew my grandfather, the late Thomas Henry Huxley.
I too have become a Zoologist by profession: have been working here; & now, before going back to England, am making a little tour through part of Germany, in company with a friend, also a Zoologist, (though now more of || a political economist).
Jena is one of the towns we are passing through: & I wondered if we might have the honour of calling upon you. We hope to be in Jena on the 6th of March – possibly the 5th or 7th –, but probably the 6th.
I leave here on Saturday, & for 2 days following my address will be Hotel Rheinischer Hof Bonn a/Rh.
You will excuse this unfortunate letter – but when I tell you || that I am going this autuum to take up a post in America, you will realize what a prestige it will give me there if I can say „I have spoken with Haeckel“!
Yours sincerely
Julian S. Huxley
