My dear Haeckel
your note has this moment reached me – Why in the world do you always visit London just after I leave it? We came here only last week but we shell be here all this month. || I heard you were in Scotland and wrote to Thomson the other day to say that Teignmouth lies in the direct road from Inverness to Jena though it may not look so in the map. My house is full so alas! I cannot offer to take you in but if you can come here we will you get you a bed and feed you with || Devonshire-cream – a leckerbiss not to be despised.
Besides this is the loveliest part of Britain.
I am put off by railway to the other side of Dartmoor where one of my married daughters and her husband are staying at present. So I must make an end.
My wife desires her || best remembrances and joins with me in the hope that we may see you.
Ever
Yours very faithfully
Th. H. Huxley
