My dear Professor Haeckel,
Now that the „Challenger” Reports are really finished it has been suggested to me that those who have taken part in the work might wish to offer to Dr. Murray their congratulations in some appropriate form.
It is further thought that the forthcoming meeting of the British Association at Ipswich will offer a good opportunity for holding a meeting to consider the matter.
Would you be willing to put your name to a circular in some such terms as the enclosed summoning such a meeting?
I have been asked to take charge of the correspondence until something definite is decided upon.
