Dear Professor Haeckel,
All our friends are delighted at the bare prospect of seeing and hearing you at our Annual Dinner – which, by the way, is fixed for February 27th, not the 28th. You really must make a supreme effort to join us on the occasion. One of our Directors, Mr. H. S. Leon, will place his own town house at your disposal during your visit, so that you may entertain any friends you might like to meet while here. He also wishes to give a private dinner in your honour, to which some twenty or thirty of the foremost workers in our cause will be invited.
One other request I have to make. Will you be so good as to telegraph to me as early as possible in February (before the middle || of the month, if possible) what your final decision is? --- and of course it will be „Yes”.
It will take some little while to correspond with all the friends who are so anxiously looking forward to meet you; and we intend that the occasion shall be in every way most successful.
With kindest regards
Always faithfully yours
Charles A. Watts.
