I write to wish you and yours all the good wishes of the season: may 1899 bring you and your family much health and happiness. I have also to thank you for your address at Cambridge which || I have read with much pleasure. Rottenberg sent me at Christmas two smoked goose breasts and I have been enjoying them, but my wife still thinks they require some more cooking!!
Iʼve been giving myself up to the || amusement of the children for the past week: we had 60 little boys and girls here the other afternoon in fancy dress!! and for the time, at all events, I reached second childhood!
My wife sends best remembrances to Mrs Haeckel, and || your daughters, and we hope this will find you all in the best of health.
