My Dear Haeckel,
I duly received your two copies of Monismus and have been reading them with much pleasure as well as your paper in the „Monist”(american).
There will be very many observations || about Plankton in the last Challenger volumes, showing how it varied from day to day during the cruise.
I will be very pleased to see Walthers book. I am sure it will be interesting.
I hope you will have an enjoyable time in Italy and || I am glad Mrs Haeckel is going with you. I am sure it will be a great pleasure for you again to visit Messina. I hope you will make many valuable investigations with the help of your wife!
I remain here at work till I finish this last volume || of the Challenger Reports.
With the best remembrances from us both to all your family
Yours sincerely
John Murray
