“Medusa” | Millport | Cumbrae
20 July 1892.
My Dear Haeckel
I have your letter of the 16th inst.
After the British Association in Edinburgh (about the 14th August) I will return here to the west coast and I will likely be with the „Medusa” till the end of September. My wife will be with her || father who has a house on the west coast but not near the Sea.
If you come I will do my best to make your visit acceptable, and I will show you as much as I can in the lochs of the west coast. We will stay at hotels or houses of friends at night and make excursions during the day. You would get a very good || idea of the fauna of these western lochs if you come and you could make collections if you wish. I am not sure about the Prince of Monaco movements I enclose you the last letter I had about him. You see as he is not going to Russia he may stay some time in Scotland.
I have a laboratory here and you will see from the enclosed letter that there will be a number of men working here. ||
So, my Dear Haeckel, if you come I’ll do the best I can for you. I will not have the „Medusa” next year, indeed I think I will sell her as I have now exhausted the work in the lochs and she is not large enough to work in the outer Seas.
Address to 28 Douglas Crescent Edinburgh, where I will be till the 14 August.
Remembrances to all your family
Yours sincerely
John Murray
