28 DOUGLAS CRESCENT,

EDINBURGH.

12 July 1892.

My Dear Haeckel,

Last evening we arrived here safely from our American trip, and we enjoyed it very much.

The British Association meets in Edinburgh the first week in August and I wish to ask some of the foreigners to stay with us, but in the first instance, I || wished to know if there was any chance of your coming to Scotland this summer. I therefore sent you a telegram this morning, but I have as yet no reply.

After the meeting is over we could go to the west coast and do some Plankton work in the „Medusa“, for she || is still working at the fauna of the west coast lochs.

It is said that the Prince of Monaco is to be there with his large yacht, so you could see and hear what he has been doing.

He will be very pleased if you can come to us, and I will not ask any others to stay in our || house till I hear from you.

My wife and the baby are very well. They made much of me in the states!!!

I hope Mrs Haeckel and all your family are well.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Yours very sincerely

John Murray
