John Murray an Ernst Haeckel, Ravenscraig, 18. August 1891

Ravenscraig | Millport | Cumbrae

18 August 1891.

My Dear Haeckel

We are both very sorry to learn that your accident has been more severe that you imagined and that you are still confined to the sofa. We very much sympathize with you and your family || both on account of your accident and their being delayed from their summer holiday.

I hope you will soon recover and if you can come anytime in December we will be very glad to see you. I will still || be able to show you some Plankton work.

We leave here on the 31st August. My address after that date will be Crosslet, Dumbarton which is the house of my father-in-law.

The water in all the „Clyde Sea Area” is very phosphorescent at present due to the presence of Ceratium (Peridinia) || types and other species. I find that some of my cotton nets catch minute organisms that escape the silk nets (No 18) so that Hensen can not in every case have the whole of the organized matter in his hands.

With remembrances from my wife

Yours as ever

John Murray
