John Murray an Ernst Haeckel, Ravenscraig, 5. August 1891

Ravenscraig | Millport | Cumbrae.

Dear Haeckel

We expect you and you will be no inconvenience to us. I wish to show you some tow-net work that is all in the way of your Plankton studies. Better to come this year for I may not have || the „Medusa” out the next year. My wife will be delighted to see you, bring your son if you like: this is a great field for artists. I will go to Edinburgh to meet you: and bring you to the West. We remain in this house till the end || of this month. Then my wife goes to her fathers, and I go north to Oban and will take you also to show you tow-net work.

Let me know when you arrive in Edinburgh, we will stay one night there then come west.

Hope Mrs Haeckel || will continue to improve- We have delightful weather here now and I hope it will be good when you come.

Yours

John Murray
