I returned here after a very pleasant trip in Switzerland. I hope you are now having better weather there than we had. Between Gotha and Munich I somewhere lost £60 of circular notes they have not yet turned up, but of course I stopped payment and the money || will not be lost. I send you the title pages. Will you suggest anything that I might put in an editorial note.
I sincerely hope that Mrs Haeckel is now much better and will soon be all well again.
Since my return I have become engaged to be married to Miss Isabelle Henderson the only daughter of Mr || Thomas Henderson, the head of the „Anchor Line” of Atlantic and other steamships. We will likely be married early next year (January). She is not young, yet 16 years younger than I am. If not too beautiful she is very good and the very jolliest of women – quite like a German! So I’ll soon be a poor married man! Pity me!! Her father has a very large sailing yacht: we must persuade him || to take us a tow-netting trip into tropical seas. The „Salene” the name of the yacht has made many ocean trips: she is one of the largest sailing yachts.
