I am obliged voice for yours of the 22nd inst. re the terms for the exclusive right of the English translation of your new book. At present we do not see our way to offer you more than £25 down, and a further sum of £25 well we have sold 2000 copies. Your interest in our Association (which, as you know, is only on the threshold of its existence) will, we trust, prompt you to accept our offer. In any case, we trust that you will not accept any offer from any other quarter until our Directors have finally decided that the sum mentioned by you is || larger than they are prepared to pay.
