I want to express my thanks to you for the gift of your Systematische Phylogenie (Part I), which you kindly sent me through Dr. Paul Carus of Chicago. In Biology we are all of one nation, and we all naturally feel pride in every monumental work that is brought forth. It is hardly necessary || to say that American biologists, with but one or two exceptions, are proud of the work you have accomplished. This Phylogenie is the most needed work at this time, and I rejoice that your strength holds out unabated.
I have received also through Mr. Hegeler, the splendid Memorial and Photograph, which I wish to acknowledge with many thanks. ||
I hope you will accept this assurance of my admiration and most cordial wishes for you.
