aDear Sir:
In one of the New York papers we have read an account of Dr. Ernst Haeckel’s work entitled „Eternity – Thoughts about Life and Death, Religion and the Doctrine of Evolution.“
It has occured to us that on account of the war no arrangement could be made direct for the publication of this book in England, and that therefore it might be worth while for us to communicate direct with you about it. Would you consider the publication of a translation in this country, and if so, on what terms? It may be, of course, that an arrangement has already been made with an American publishing house, but if not, we shall be very glad to hear from you and to see a copy of the book.
Very truly yours,
Dodd, Mead & C.
