John Murray (Challenger Office) an Ernst Haeckel, Edinburgh, 20. Juli 1879
Challenger Office
32 Queen Street
Edinburgh.
20 July 1879.
My dear Haeckel.
We will expect you on the 8th Aug. with the steamer from Hamburg.
I have just been out with Sir Wyville for a few days. He is much better || but will not take any part in official work for some time. He desires me to say that he will expect you to come out to his place and stay some days with him, and that I am to go out at the || same time. In the first place you will put up with me here.
Most of our professional people will be out of town when you will be here. I have, however, promised to take you over to St. Andrews for a day or two || for the purpose [of] letting you see how Scotch professors amuse themselves at golf &c. &c.
With best remembrances to Mrs Haeckel. (I had a call from your friend Herr Rottenburgh last week.)
Yours ever
John Murray.
