Dear Professor Haeckel
I have asked Messieurs Macmillan & Co to send you a copy of my book which is written jointly with my friend Dr McDougall „The Pagan tribes of Borneo“ which I hope you will | do me the honour to accept.
It is many years since I heard from you, but I have always been deeply gratified for the kindly interest you took in me years ago, and for the stimulus you gave me in my work at that time. I liked to feel that I was indirectly a humble student of yours, working in an interesting and little known country, with great opportunities || before me ‒ and this book ist the outcome of that work.
I endore a cutting from the „Times“ which will interest you I think, with regard of the investigations I made asa to the cause of Beriberi, and which now seems to be accepted.
I hope you are well and with kindless regards.
Yours sincerely
Charles Hose
