May 13, 1916.

My dear Prof. Haeckel: -

I am sending you herewith an article I have written on the Tragedy of Belgium, Poland and the Jews.

I would be grateful to you for any expression of opinion on the subject you may to send me.

As you may perhaps recall, I have traveled twice during the past year in the belligerent coutries, as well as in the neutral countries of Europe, and I have seen the victims of this war.

During my travels, I have had opportunities to discuss with prominent statesmen the prospects and probable terms of peace.

I think it would be most helpful to all the nations, if the leaders of thought and statesmanship would express their views as to terms upon which peace may be re-established in Europe.

I would greatly appreciate it, if you will be kind enough to let me know your views concerning the prospects for peace and the readjustment that is to come at the end of this war.

With highest esteem, I am,

Yours sincerely,

Herman Bernstein.
