My dear Mistress Huxley!
I had the intention to visit You at Hodeslea before yesterday; but unfortunately my time was to short. I was only two days at London.
– Next Friday, 26.8. 10.20 a.m., I will held [!] here a speech (at „Guildhall”) at the General Meeting of the Internat. Zool. Congress. || I will speak „On our present knowledge of the Descent of Man” and will mainly expose the great merits of Your loved husband, my old friend, about this most important matter! –
I would be very happy if You, or Your son, could be present; probably a vivid discussion will follow my speech. || I stay here with my former pupil, Dr. Gadow, at Villa Cleramendi, Great Shelford, Cambridge, (from 23. to 26.8.) (2 miles from Cambridge)a
Letters will also find me in University Museum of Zoology.
Saturday (27.8.) I will return to London and than [!] to the Continent.
With best remembrances
Yours very truly
Ernst Haeckel.
