Dear Sir,
I am writing from this far off portion of the world to express my hope that before you finish your life work you will issue the second and longer volume of the Evolution of Man tracing man’s ancestry from the primeval microbe right up to the ape-man of Java. This I think would crown the splendid structure of your system. Dear Professor – do not think me a nuisance, but might I again express the hope that you will soon issue the work above mentioned. Your various works have opened up a new world to me, and turned my efforts to new and fruitful fields of research. I have written to you before from England and Alberta, and was glad to get an acknowledgement.
Yours gratefully,
H. S. Doubleday
