Prof. Ernst Haeckel,

Dear Sir: I have desired for several years past, to establish (or see established), a Monistic Church & Religion in this country, (& also in the world of course), but hesitated for several strong reasons. I was highly gratified when I read that you had established the „Monistenbund“ in Germany & hoped to hear of similar bodies being established in America, but so far have heard of none. I feel that the || time is ripe for the founding of such an organization & would like to take the initative, if no one else does. Therefore I should like to obtain first-hand from you & the „Monistenbund“ of Germany, such detailed information & literature as would enable me to conform my plans & methods as far as possible & desirable with those you have adopted. Hoping to hear from you or from the „Monistenbund“ thru you, at the earliest convenience. I am

Sincerely Yours.

Alfred Ward Smith ||
